Fibro Feelings – Succumbing to the Cold

What is Fibro Feelings?

First, I’d like to apologize for not getting an informative post up this week. If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you know that I’ve been sick with a bad cold. I feel like it is important for me to provide you posts on a reliable scheduled and I am usually able to push past pain or fatigue (I’ve stayed up ’til 2am writing) to create a decent post, but this week I succumbed to the cold. I hoped to get a post up, even if it was late, but today is the first day I’ve been able to think clearly enough to write anything sensible.

I haven’t been this sick from a cold in a LONG time! Even when The Helpful Hubby gets sick I often don’t get it or only get a less severe version of it. This time I had two days of a really sore throat followed by three days of sore throat, extreme fatigue, weakness, coughing, occasional sneezing, horrid congestion, clogged ears and lots of mucus issues. I was miserable and pretty much useless.

I don’t know how many cough drops and tissues I’ve gone through, but I finished off two bags and a box, respectively. It is times like these where I really appreciate stocking my house with tissues with lotion like Puffs Plus or Kleenex Lotion Tissues. I did have to send The Helpful Hubby to the store for some sorbet (for my throat) and decongestant. Luckily he only got a little bit sick from me, however I kept jarring him awake with random coughing fits during the night. I would go to the bathroom until it calmed down a bit, but eventually I realized that laying down flat just wasn’t going to work. I grabbed two pillows from our guestroom and propped myself up. Surprisingly I seemed to have turned a corner on Wednesday and started feeling slightly better, although I still sounded horrible. I hope it continues because I’d hate to cancel weekend plans I have to celebrate with friends.

What helps you feel better when you’re sick?

EmergenC works wonders, tea with honey, and a kit kat bar.

Glad you are feeling better. This winter weather has been terrible on us to sinus infections and strep throat. Be sure to see you dr if your throat is still sore it could be more than a cold. Praying for you and hubby that you are all better soon.

Thanks, Lisa! My throat was horrible the first few days, but then it has ranged from barely any pain to kinda bad for all the other days. I never ran a fever though. Even though I barely got any sleep last night I’m still feeling a little better, like yesterday.

It has been a terrible year for colds here, too. My favorite fix for this exact type of cold is a “Hot Toddy”….Cup of tea, shot of whiskey, couple of tablespoons of lemon juice and honey. Bundle up and find a place to fall asleep. You may sweat alot, but just stay bundled up.

The tea is warm and soothing, the whiskey does something, the lemon juice cuts through the mucas, and the honey soothes the throat and makes it taste a little better – Feel Better Soon!
