Fibro Feelings – Vegas Trip
Going to Vegas was a lot of fun! It was my first time visiting the city, but The Helpful Hubby had been there before. We spent 2 full days there with some time on either side and I think that was the perfect amount of time for me. By the end of our trip I was super tight and sore in my hips. I was A-OK with that though since I was expecting my hip to go back to being unbearable after all the walking we did. After only a couple of days it was feeling back to how it did before Vegas. I wore my calf compression sleeves throughout most of the trip, besides the night I wore a dress. It really helped keep the swelling from the flying and walking to a minimum. The time of the year we went was great – not too hot or too cold. Sometimes we needed a jacket and other times we didn’t. I’d much rather be chilly than hot though.
I was absolutely enthralled with Cirque du Soleil O (the one with water). I’ve seen a Cirque performance before, but this show was 100 times better, from the beginning to the end. I would highly suggest going! The Helpful Hubby loved Penn & Teller even more though. I was able to get 20% and 40% discounts, respectively, by doing a little hunting online. At least two restaurants with long lines out the door in New York City have locations in Vegas that are much easier to get into. We stopped by the Carnegie Deli so I could get their amazing cheesecake again, but Serendipity 3 is also there. I’ve gone to them both in NYC so I know about the wait times there. I’m curious to find out if that cheesecake had soy in it though, because that was the only time I felt sick on the trip. Luckily the ickiness went away after ~4 hours.
During one of the breaks we had between day time fun and a night time show we’d gone back to the hotel to freshen up and also ice my hip. The Helpful Hubby and I noticed that my legs were blue all over and were quite worried, thinking something was terribly wrong with my circulation. My legs weren’t blue where my compression sleeves were. Later that night I finally realized why and we both sighed with relief. I had gotten a new pair of jeans before our trip and didn’t have time to wash/dry them before we left. I had worn those new jeans earlier that day and their dye had worn off on me. It seemed to also have given me some rashes, but luckily the blue color came right off my legs with a washcloth! Funny how having so many medical conditions sometimes makes us miss a more obvious connection!
