Fibro Feelings – Celebrating the New Year
I hope everyone had a wonderful new year! My friend had an intimate cocktail party, which was perfect for how I was feeling! We even got to see fireworks from their balcony. The big news of 2012 for me has been that I don’t have a labral tear! I’m a tiny sad that I had to get all that x-ray and MRI exposure to find that out. The orthopedist said my issue doesn’t appear to be mechanical, but finds it odd that the lidocaine helped the pain. The orthopedist thinks I probably have synovitis, another syndrome. My next step is further exploration by my rheumatologist, who I’ll be seeing again tomorrow.
As I reflect back on some of the goals I set for myself last year, I am happy with how far I’ve come, although there is still room for improvement. I’ve been trying to find deals on groupon and other local coupon sites for house cleaning. This has been able to give me a break every now and then and take pressure off of having house guests.
I’ve spent hours looking for a yoga instructor with experience working with someone with fibromyalgia and seem to be close to moving forward. I can rest assured that I’ve asked every doctor I’ve seen in 2011 as well as many friends, acquaintances and businesses. I think I would’ve accomplished this goal this year, but with my hip pain of all of winter and some of fall I had to put that on hold. We weren’t sure if yoga might injury/tear something more. I also bought Yoga for Fibromyalgia, which I am excited to use and even washed my yoga mat. hehe
How has your new year started out?

Thanks for the Yoga for Fibromyalgia DVD link. I’m adding that to my wish list for sure. Yoga feels so good. I just use a beginner’s video I have here at home. And I do think that you have accomplished a lot in 2011. Good job, you!!

My new year isn’t starting out the greatest, I’m still out on medical leave from having a bacterial abcess. I’ve been out of work since 12/8 because of this and had a nice little 6 day hospital visit also. While I was in pain from the abcess though, I had no fibro problems! Guess my body didn’t care about the fibro…now that I’m getting better the fibro is back!! Just hoping that 2012 will improve for me. So far it sucks

I’ve had that happen as well when dealing with another big medical problem…My fibro seemed to behave itself more than normal, for a bit. It really surprised me, but I was so happy I didn’t have to deal with that too! Hoping you can put this all behind you soon!

So glad to hear that you’re on your way to resolving your hip problem!!
Have you tried asking your local Arthritis Foundation for recommended yoga instructors? They should have a list that are arthritis/fibro friendly.

I’m pretty sure I did at the beginning of the 2011 and was told they only knew tai chi instructors. It might be worth asking again, although my rheumatologist just told me to avoid more of the stretching in yoga until this hip is better. How’s your hip?

Better now that I’m more active. Zumba helps a lot! If you get instructors of tai chi, they may know Yoga instructors who may fit your needs. Or, ask your committee; always works for me!

Thanks, Pam! The thing I linked to was a book, but it has lots of good pictures of the poses.
