Fibro Feelings – Christmas is Coming…
You know the song, right? Yesterday morning I had a Starbucks “date” with someone I’d met earlier this year. During our conversation, I had my first peppermint mocha of the season – in a red, holiday cup, of course! I had only gotten a few hours of sleep the night before due to an odd feeling stomach, so the caffeine helped me focus on our conversation after getting up early. It also helped me go on a crazy productivity crusade, which may or may not have been a good thing.
In the middle of going seven places consecutively, I got my flu shot. I was slightly nervous about this since my experience with the nasal flu vaccine was so bad last year. So far it is going well, which is how it went when I got the flu shot years ago. I only have a slightly sore arm. Thank goodness! Another reason I was nervous about how I would fare is because I had plans last night to do a little shopping, see some awesome gingerbread houses on display and have dinner with a friend. Luckily I had a few hours to decompress at home before those plans because I was the driver. My hip and back were really hurting and they needed that break and the medicine I needed to take with lunch. Have I mentioned that I’d shopped from 8:15-10:30pm the night before? I think I am going crazy. I obviously need to slow it down a tad.
I’m excited because the person I had dinner with mentioned her friend, who is a yoga instructor. The yoga instructor has worked with someone who has “a chronic nerve condition,” so I think she’d be more prepared to deal with my fibromyalgia than the typical instructor. I’m excited with the possibility of starting to work with her, in 2012. She also helps people with meditation, which is something I’ve never been able to get very far with, but love the possibilities it holds.
Did you get a flu vaccination this year? If so, how’d you do afterward?

I got mine this year. I never like shots and always seem to react to them when others don’t. This year was a good one though Just a little sore.

I’m skipping the flu shot this year. I’m of the mind that if they guess at the top 3 strains of flu that *may* be going around this season, I can take the risk by not having any more chemicals in my body. lol I am majorly medicated already. More than any other year. So I figure I’ll take the risk and pass on the flu shot this year. Besides..I rarely go out anymore.

I went with the same rationalization for a few years, but the winter-time flying that I usually do combined with being around someone undergoing chemotherpay changed my approach that last couple years.
