Fibro Feelings – The Peaceful Sound of Snow

What is Fibro Feelings?

Last night I lay in bed, eyes shut, appreciating the silence. It is one of my favorite things about when it snows! I can lay there and not hear a single thing – no typical ambient noises such as cars driving, birds chirping, wind blowing around, rain hitting things, people talking, dogs barking, etc… Just pure silence. Something about the absence of noise is very calming and enjoyable to me! I think this is one of the main reasons I like being in natural, undisturbed settings (forest, beach, wildlife preserves, etc…). Even when I just look at photographs of twinkling snow across a prairie, in a forest or on mountains I think it looks very serene.

When I mentioned how much I was enjoying the peacefulness to The Helpful Hubby (half asleep at the time) he asked me if it was usually noisier. At first I was surprised that he did not realize the drastic difference, but then I realized that I’m often laying in bed awake, listening and trying to sleep, whereas he is actually sleeping. I also began to wonder if I would enjoy silence so much if my fibromyalgia did not make me sensitive to noises? I tried to think back to before I had fibromyalgia and I can’t remember ever relishing silence. However, I’m not really sure, I’ve had fibromyalgia for over 1/3 of my life! Either way, I am appreciative of it now!

Life has been pretty typical this last week, except that my eyes have been twitching like crazy! It all started after 3 nights of horrible sleep out of 4. Since then I’ve gotten more sleep, but my eyes and even sometimes muscles in my legs, arms and neck have been twitching! Sure, I can identify some stressors in my life, but I haven’t been feeling completely stressed out. I’m not really sure why I can’t get the twitching to stop! I’ve tried eliminating caffeine and decompressing with a few different herbal teas, but the twitching continues.

At what times do you enjoy a little bit of peace?
