Fibro Feelings – Trivia & Holiday Gifts

What is Fibro Feelings?

A few days ago I met some friends for Trivia Night at a restaurant. Even though our team came in 3rd place, we had a lot of fun! We even won a free AMAZING dessert to share. I’m drooling just thinking of how yummy it tasted! Our team name was Second Base because two of the ladies I was playing with are young breast cancer survivors. Luckily I wasn’t too distracted by the noises/over sensitized. I think trivia nights can be a really fun way to get together with friends for just a couple hours instead of committing to an entire evening. I even worked my dinner into trivia night by having a Greek salad while we played. I My favorite round of trivia was half Saved by the Bell questions, half manatee questions. Do you remember their rival high school? Valley High!

I’ve also been trying to get some more of my Christmas shopping completed. I usually have almost all my shopping done by now (I hate the holiday crowds), but this year I have a little more to do. I’m always on the look out for creative, unique or inventive gifts. I really love the idea of these charitable candles from Glassybaby. They are pricey, but beautiful and part of their proceeds go to charitable causes. Many of the causes are cancer focused, but some are on children, AIDS and pets. While looking through Oprah’s Gift Finder I found two items that I thought might be good for others with fibromyalgia.

Many people with fibromyalgia have issues with getting very hot or cold and not being able to cool down or warm up so quickly. This stylish little fan would be great for those heated situations or even during hot flashes. The size makes it easy to use on a kitchen counter or at a desk.

This next item is something I’m seriously thinking of adding to my own wish-list (yes, my parents still ask me for a list)! An electric vegetable peeler. I found a video of this product in use and it showed it shaving hard cheese as well. I realize this product will be slower to use than a manual peeler, but as confirmed by @dsdphoto (who has used an electric peeler in the past), it is much easier and less repetitive. I’m thinking this would be great for days my wrists are hurting or for shaving hard cheeses, which always requires a lot of applied pressure.

What gifts have you received that you especially appreciated, due to your fibromyalgia?
