Fibro Feelings – A Nice Fall Day

What is Fibro Feelings?

Last Saturday The Helpful Hubby and I spent a wonderful fall day together. We started off our day watching our college football game with our alumni group. It is always fun to together with a group of fans, all wearing school colors, cheering a team along. Eating bar food and caffeinated diet soda wasn’t such a great idea for my IBS though. =/ After running an errand we went on an impromptu sunny walk near some marshland. We saw little bitty birdies, hawks, ducks, slugs, berries, flowers and friendly people walking their dogs. It was an area we’d never been to, so it was fun to explore it on a whim. After walking my ankle was a lil sore, but it rested while we drove to an area 30 minutes away to explore another area we’d been wanting to check out. We wondered around the area and took a walk along the water. Back at home we watched the Rangers vs. Yankees baseball game and had dinner.

Over the weekend I also was able to get back to editing pictures! I haven’t been able to do much of that since my wrist flare-up, but I’ve been doing some each day since Friday and my wrist is feeling good! I was a little nervous the first few days, but now that I know it isn’t irritating me I’m very excited. It shows that my wrist strengthening exercises are working!

Sunday I was feeling pretty fatigued, so we hung out at home most of the day. We watched the movie The A-team (The Helpful Hubby’s choice), I read some of the newest Fibromyalgia Aware magazine,  made dinner and wrote a blog post. The Helpful Hubby and I really wanted to enjoy the nice weather and go on a bike ride, but I knew that would zap every ounce of energy I had left.

What is your favorite autumn activity?

My favorite fall activity? I actually have 2 and they are both kind of similar. The first one occurs on Trick or Treat night in our neighborhood. We live in a cul-de-sac. So all of us in the circle gather together at one of the houses and have a T or T social gathering. We all bring our candy and set it up at the entrance of the garage so the littles can walk along the table and take some candy from each bowl. Some of us dress up and some of us don’t. We all bring a dish and eat and party together.

The second one is Thanksgiving. A few years ago we made our own family tradition separate from our extended family. OUR family (just the 4 of us) go to one of our TN state parks for the long weekend. We take food to cook in our cabin/rooms. We eat 2 or 3 meals in the park restaurant but most of the time we eat in our room. We buy a new board game we have never played and take it with us. We spend time together – just the 4 of us. We play games, go hiking, fish or just spend time together. It is truly my fave time of the year. A couple of years our best friends have come along as well. We also meet the other people who have escaped civilization and are doing the same thing we are. We make new friends.

I’m not really much of a social butterfly – but those two activities both involve mingling with others. It is a gorgeous time of the year and we love the fun and beauty of it.

Your Thanksgiving plans sound like a great way to be able to focus on being thankful! It also sounds very relaxing and like you said, a way to escape. You must be building up quite the board game collection!
