Fibro Feelings – Progress!
This week has flown by! I wish I could have gotten more done, but I got enough done to not be too disappointed. The week started off with with an appointment with my rheumatologist. He isn’t sure that all of the continuous pain that I’m having is my bursitis. For years I’ve stopped using my back to lift weight, but now my rheumatologist wants me to focus on not bending my back unless it is in a straight line still. That is the only thing he wants me to do until my appointment next month. I’m pretty overwhelmed by this because I don’t have eyes in the back of my head and thus can’t tell when I’m bending my back with a curve! When I sleep I sleep on all for of my sides and often toss and turn. I know my back doesn’t stay straight then, but I just do whatever I can to get comfy and sleep. I’m hoping that I can find some more information/suggestions on how I can work on this, online. Hopefully I will get this mastered and it will help.
I am encouraged that I’ve been making some progress with my hip and leg pain though, while still bending my back. After my rheumatology appointment I stopped by my local Arthritis Foundation office for a bit to do a few Arthritis Walk related things. After eating lunch I met a fellow Arthritis Walk committee member and we spent an hour and a half hanging up posters and putting up card displays while catching up on our personal lives. I was so exhausted and sore afterward and really glad that I had Easter dinner leftovers to serve for dinner. A couple days later the fatigue and soreness was mostly gone.
Thursday I met a friend for lunch who I haven’t seen in three months. It was so nice to catch up before she moves away. Afterward I picked up two flowers to replace some flowers I lost two winters ago. The next day, I planted them and ended up working in the yard for probably half an hour. To my delight the tightness my hip got afterward did not worsen and cause horrible pain, as it has done in the past. It just slowly went away! Progress!
Did you know they make purple lawn flamingos?

I saw these, for the first time, when I was at the nursery buying my flowers. I couldn't help but think of them being fibromyalgia awareness flamingos!*

I never saw a purple flamingo
I hope to never see one
Altho if all were said and done
I’d rather see than be one.
(thanks, Gelett Burgess, for the inspiration)

I didn’t know about Gelett’s Purple Cow poem, so thanks for making me smarter! (at first I thought you just hated lawn flamingos)
