Fibro Feelings – Valentine’s Day
This Valentine’s Day The Helpful Hubby and I decided to celebrate low key since we’ll be going on a fun trip soon. I decorated the house, dressed in a cute outfit and we cooked a meal together. We cooked mustard-dill salmon with red potatoes and spinach, which is an easy “fancy” dish that I’ve been meaning to share it with you all for awhile. We ate our meal in candle-light, I gave him a heartfelt card and he gave me a tiny treat. It was nice, especially since our only shared plan had been to make the meal.
One hour after the meal I started going down hill though. My IBS was irritated and I was having mild cramping, mild nausea, getting gassy and just generally did not feel well. I was perplexed since I’ve eaten that meal many times and never had problems, but then I started dissecting the evening and what might have gone wrong. I realized that we’d used oil cooking spray, which has soy in it (does anybody know of one that doesn’t??), The Helpful Hubby hadn’t washed the dill (maybe there was something icky on it?), and remember that tasty treat he got me…it also had soy in it. He had gotten it for me because it is hard to find and one of my favorite things – toffee, milk chocolate macadamia nuts. I found them on a trip to Kauai (after another friend with IBS had recommended them) and instantly fell in love. Knowing the soy risk I only ate 3-4 of them, but looking back I think I simply had too much soy that day. Not knowing The Helpful Hubby would give me a tasty treat I had eaten a few other treats earlier in the day that also had soy in them. Of course, it was all my fault, so as I was trying to sleep with worsened cramps I vowed to be better in the future.
Fibromyalgia-wise I’ve been feeling a little more pain than normal in my wrists and back and my hip is continuing to bother me. My hip has remained feeling a few levels of pain lower than before the cortisone shot, so I’m happy about that! I think the extra wrist and back pain might just be from the rainy weather, as I can’t think of any other correlations.
How was your Valentine’s Day?

Ours was good. Again, low key but we also celebrate our wedding anniversary on valentine’s day so hubby knows he’s gotta do good! I got a mani/pedi gift certificate (as requested!) so I’m excited about that. We went to dinner at a steak house which was yummy. I was extremely tired tho, as I have been for awhile. Fibro has been misbehaving and my back has been killing me for several weeks now. Rheumy appt is next week, so hopefully I can talk to her about all the problems I’m having.

Pedicures always feel so good! I hope your rheumatologist has some things to suggest for your back pain – good luck!
