Fibro Feelings – House Guests

What is Fibro Feelings?

For the past few days I’ve been recovering from being a hostess while our guests were staying with us. I’ve slept 10 hours each of the last couple nights, but I still feel exhausted! Since the people staying with us were somewhat of foodies I knew they’d want to eat out often and staying on my elimination diet would be nearly impossible. I discussed this with my RD and she said that I could go off the diet when I had to, but that I’d have to detox for a couple days after that, before resuming food challenges.

I can see why – just from the few items I ate that were outside of what I could eat I ended up with a headache Saturday afternoon until Monday evening! At times it was so bad that I could barely move (even after taking Aleve), but the severity would change back and forth, allowing some things to be done without too much pain. During this elimination diet, I’m even more sensitive to foods and their reactions than I would be eating a regular diet. Although the RD had told me that, it was crystal clear after this weekend!

For the first time ever I paid to have a green cleaning service come in preparation of our guests. You may remember me mentioning being open to using this in my previous post, Putting Health First. I saw a coupon on a local groupon-like site that let you pay $55 instead of $130! I was especially excited when the add mentioned deep cleaning for your entire house, as baseboards are one of the hardest things for me to do. Turns out that there was only 1 person, so only four rooms got cleaned during her visit. While it was definitely worth $55, I was very happy that I hadn’t paid $130 for it. I still had to dust and vacuum the whole house, but she was able to do many things that are harder for me – two bathrooms, the microwave and the the hardwood floors.

Do you ever use a cleaning/maid service?

I use a woman who does a great job and charges 20/hr. I only have 550 sq ft so it doesn’t take more than a couple hours but it sure does make a difference in how the place looks and feels.

$20/hour is something I’d feel much more comfortable paying!

This is something I have been seriously considering for deep cleaning twice a year for our allergies. Hmmmmmm

I considering doing it once a year before company comes because she was able to get in the areas that are rough for my body to reach (like behind the toilets). I wouldn’t ask for them to clean everything, since that would cost a lot, but I’d have a list of areas within certain rooms that I’d like cleaned – like baseboards.
