Fibro Feelings – A Fun, Busy Weekend

What is Fibro Feelings?

Last weekend was full of party preparations, as we’re hosting a party in 2 weeks. I put away the winter decorations and put out the party decorations. I also went grocery shopping for all of the drinks and non-perishable food. Of course, The Helpful Hubby helped with these things. My back had been hurting quite a bit, so I took a muscle relaxer at bedtime. That helped my back feel much better after getting up in the mornings and it helped me sleep a little better. I also used my heating pad quite a bit when I was taking breaks on my couch.

I forgot to say that I started out the weekend stylin’ after a visit to my hair salon. I didn’t get anything but a trim, but my hair always feels so much better afterward! My neck, on the other hand, usually is sore from the uncomfortable hair washing bowls! They are so good at hitting right on the tender points in my neck! I was so excited that while out doing some shopping I found some framed art that goes perfectly in our master bathroom. The Helpful Hubby even likes it too! This was such a relief seeing as I’ve had a bare spot that I’ve been looking to fill for years! Sunday evening I went to a committee meeting for the Arthritis Walk through the Arthritis Foundation. Each of those meeting are exciting to me, as it brings us closer to our actual event!

Squeaky (our cat) has been cracking me up. He recently got a gift of a little barley, oats and wheat growing container. Now that the grasses are tall enough to eat he has been playing with it. Squeaky had some of his teeth removed and is an indoor cat. I think that combination has him unsure of what to do with the grasses. He has bitten a few strands out, but he hasn’t eaten any of it. His favorite use for it is trying to hid behind it. Somehow he thinks his body hides behind an object half his size! Pets are such great sources of love and laughter. According to the Center for Disease Control pets can decrease your blood pressure, feelings of loneliness and cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Sounds good to me!

Oh that picture is precious! Is that really a picture of Squeaky?

Faith makes my life so much sweeter – especially on bad days. She is a cuddler and just having her lay on me or next to me as close as she can get helps me feel better emotionally and physically. I love how she follows me from room to room. She and I “talk” to each other during the day. She comforts me and loves on me and I do the same for her.

Now as for Biskit and Chewey – they pretty much have the opposite effect. HAHAHAHA

Nope, those cats are not mine, they are Wikipedia’s =)

I agree, pet cuddles are very comforting and warm (a bonus during the winter)! Squeaky acts like a dog most of the time, so he follows us around too! It is nice to know you are loved SO much that a pet wants to be around you almost all of the time.

My boy Charles improves my life in so many ways.. first of all, I cannot go a day without cracking up over something he’s done. He’s hilarious and he can’t even talk. After my first surgery (and every surgery since then), he was so dismayed and followed me around the apartment for weeks. I spent a lot of time in the bathroom trying to pee (tee hee) and he sat on the rug in front of the sink and just watched me, then followed me back to bed where he laid until I got up again.
He’s also taught me patience– we’re his second owners and when we rescued him, he came along with a large number of behavioral problems. Similar to the “Cesar Milan” approach, I’ve found that he only responds to me in an appropriate manner when I’m calm. That has reinforced all the relaxation and de-stressing techniques I’ve learned.

Above all, my little boy is disabled and was born with a fused front leg. I have learned a lot about being “disabled”– Charles isn’t even aware that there’s some other “normal” life out there for him. He’s totally fine and happy the way he is. He’s happy he can’t go on long walks and can sleep all day. He doesn’t know the difference. He’s taught me to cherish what I have now.

Above all, Charles is a real blessing–as weird, farty, and stinky as he is. He’s lovely, even though he’s a mess. And he’s hilarious. I am so lucky to have a creature to love!

Thanks for sharing the many ways Charles has improved your life! Every time you talk about Charles you can tell how happy he makes you, even in short tweets! I didn’t know (or I’d forgotten) that Charles has a fused leg! Squeaky has balance problems, so he walks/runs/jumps differently himself.

Felicia, Oh how I love my two cuddle kitties and my lovely mutt, Ella. When I was first very ill I found a picture of her on a petfinders and much to my husband’s dismay – drove 3 hours to pick her up. He couldn’t understand why I couldn’t find a dog to adopt in Denver where we live. I just knew she was my dog and I really needed her comfort at that time in my life and she has been an absolute joy. As a puppy she was almost no trouble and I feel like she knew I wasn’t well and she’s been right by my side since – although unfortunately she’s only allowed on the bed when my husband is away (compromise of marriage :) ) but the kitties, Tagger and Bittie, are and they snuggle up close every night and Tagger sleeps in a basket lined with a pillow right on my desk – keeping me company all day long! I don’t know what I’d do without them!

Sounds like you had love at first sight with Ella and how sweet that Tagger stays with you, at your desk, all day long! Will your pets be shown in any of your Art Apple a Day pieces??
