Fibro Feelings – Going to the Fair
Last Saturday The Helpful Hubby and I got up early for a day of fun. We took advantage of Smithsonian Museum Day and went to a small, local museum. It was nice having free entry since the museum only took 30 minutes to go through. A local Junior Girl Scout troop had the same idea, making for a very loud museum experience. Part of me hopes those girls didn’t earn a patch since they were not acting on anything near their best behavior!
After the museum we headed to the fair for lunch. Upon arrival I was extremely hungry so I got a bratwurst to eat while we walked around. Just a few bites in my stomach started feeling odd and the mustard started tasting really spicy. Needles to say I started feeling horrible as my IBS reacted -cramping, nausea, bloating and gargling noises. Luckily there was a large air-conditioned pavilion full of all types of adult and children’s art that had plenty of bathrooms. We hung out there for awhile. Some of the photography on display was pretty amazing! When I started feeling a little better I studied the bathroom locations on the fairground map and we continued walking around. Later, as I rested with water at a table while The Helpful Hubby was getting food, two young girls sat across from me. They were eating playing with pink cotton candy. The youngest one told me, “They spun mine 15 times!” There was then a small conversation between the girls about how the older sister thought it was only 14 times. How cute! It sure put a smile on my face. A couple hours later I was feeling much better, but still not “normal.”
We had fun looking at all the fair goods, games and animals. Although I love rides, I did not think my stomach could handle riding any that day. The weather was perfect though – not too hot, sunny and a slight breeze. I even got a small tan. I just love the light-hearted feeling of a fair/carnival. Outdoor fun, food and friends! I’m always reminded of summer days, twinkling lights and vivid colors. No matter the age, one can have a carefree day at a fair/carnival. One of the other things I enjoyed was taking pictures of all of our observations.
What is your favorite thing about a fair/carnival?

Sounds a little crazy but still fun.
My fave thing about going to the fair is that little girls’ cotton candy – although I prefer mine be spun 16 times…..heeheehee
